I celebrated National Day in school. We went to the school hall to sing the National Anthem, waited for our vice-principal, Miss Sim to give a speech and sing songs.

Then we went to the field to celebrate Sports Day. You will have to put the ball under your legs then hop to the first hula hoop, throw it up in the air 3 times then put it under your legs again, hop to the second hula hoop, turn it round your wist 3 time then run back to our group and pass it to our next group mates. My father and mother were there too! My father talk to Dong Han and Chongqing Shing about their life. Then we did the mexican wave then Mr Ngoh came to give the prizes.

The weather was fine and sunny and I enjoyed the games very much.

How I spent my June holiday

Journal entry for school

The first week of my holidays I swam almost everyday and played tennis. I felt tired but happy. Then my mother brought us us to Australia for 12 days. In Australia we went to places such as Moonlit Sanctuary, farms and Mt Baw Baw. We rented a car to travel.

There are some interesting Places such as Moonlit Sanctuary and Mornington Rail. At Moonlit Sanctuary at Moonlit Sanctuary we got to feed animals such as wallabies, kangaroos and many other animals. I was excited! At Mornington Rail we met a girl called Ebony. It was fun sitting on the train. We could stick our hands out of the windows.

During our trip, we went to Boggabrie Farm to stay for 2 days. When we got there we went to play and collect acorns. I kept my acorns in a bush under a tree. Then we went to the beach near the farm. At night we ate noodles then we went to sleep.

The next day, we went to herd the cows to sell at the market. Then we went to another farm to herd the cows again. After herding the cows, we went to eat lunch and fish. Then we went back to Uncle Donald's farm to feed the cows. Then we went back to eat and sleep.

After the farmstay, we went to Mt Baw Baw to ski and toboggan. The skiing was fun! You will have to bend your knees and slide forward. The toboggan was fun too! The toboggan is something like a sleigh. Just sit on it and slide down.

One of the days we went for a bush walk at Wilson's Promontory. We walked to the beach. We also saw some animals on the road such as wild kangaroos and emus.

I wish to go back again because I love to ski. I learnt about new animals such as wombats and Tasmanian devils. I also liked the weather because it was cold.

My Journal entries for Australia, Melbourne 9-21 June 2011 (raw version)

On 9th June, we went to Australia for 11 days. We went to the airport at 6. We ate at Pizza Hut at 7 and took about half an hour to finish. The plane left at 9.30. I was very excited! When the plane left, my father let me eat a sweet. The plane took about 7 hours to reach Australia.

When I was out of the airport, it was freezing cold! My mother called her relative who lives in Australia. Later we met our aunt to go to have breakfast. I ate scrambled eggs. After we ate breakfast, we went grocery shopping. We bought a lot of things. Then we went to a camper van park to stay for 2-3 days. We took about 2- hour nap. Then we woke up for dinner. After dinner, my family watched 'Harry Potter'. Later we went to sleep.

10/06
The next day, I was extremely tiered! I woke up at 9.30 and almost slept on the sofa! That morning we ate bread and then went out to play. We were going to meet my sister's kindergarten friend but they changed their mind to meet at Moonlit Sanctuary.

The Moonlit Sanctuary was a big success! We got to feed wallabies, see animals such as kangaroos, koalas, dingoes and owls. I felt happy. In the afternoon, we ate fish and potato cakes. Then we went to buy fishing baits. We went to the jetty for a while, then went to play the big playground. Then we went to eat dinner. Them kids chose pizza the adults chose pasta.

Then we went to the night sanctuary again to have the night walk. We saw animals awake but some animals were asleep. We also saw possums, rats and birds. After the walk, my father bought me and my sister ice cream althought it was freezing. Then we went to the camper van park to show, brush teeth and sleep.

11/06
Next morning, I woke up at 11. I sat at the sofa for a while, then went to eat breakfast. We ate bread and went to play outside. After playing outside, we rushed to take the steam train and almost got lost.

The steam train was fun! We could stick our heads out of the windows. After the ride, we went to the morning (Mornington Market) to shop and eat lunch. I ate a big sausage for lunch. My sister ate a burger. My father bought a wind charm. Before the lunch, my mother let us do painting. I chose a dinosaur picture, my sister chose a unicorn picture. Then we went to Bayside Shopping Centre to shop. We bought lots of things such as boots. Then we went back for dinner. After dinner, we went to play pingpong. Then we went back to sleep.

12/06
Next day, I was going to the farm to stay. We quickly packed and jumped into the car and ready to go to the farm. On the way to our farm, we visited another farm. My sister and I fed the chickens. My father bought ice- cream. ( they actually spent quite a while petting all the lambs and calves and feeding them)

It took about 2 hours to reach. When we reached our farm, we went to our cottage. Then my father spotted a swing. My sister and I ran over to the swing but my sister got there first. For dinner we ate noodles. Then I did my journal then my mother let us watch 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. It was a nice show. Then we went to sleep.

Note: He totally missed out his 1st motorcycle ride and our walk through the wild bushes to reach Cape Liptrap which was itself a wonderful experience for the kids because it was almost virgin land.

13/06
Next day, I woke up about 7.30 ate breakfast then went to uncle Donald's house. We met uncle Ros at uncle Donald's house. After we went to the house, uncle Donald and uncle Ros herd their cows then went to another farm to herd the cows again. This time they chased the cows. We went back to uncle Donald's house then we went to eat lunch. There was a fishing pond ( it's actually a river). I learnt how to cast the fishing rod. After that we went to uncle Ros house to pick p a charger then went back to uncle Donald's farm. We went to feed the cows. There was a lot of cow dung. It was disgusting. Luckily I wore my boots.

Again we went back to uncle Donald's farm to say the last goodbye. Then we went back to our cottage and uncle Donald's mother, grandma Dorethy came to have a talk. Then we went to sleep.

14/06
Next day, I woke up at at 8.90 we ate cereals, said bye to grandma Dorethy, then head of to Wilson's Promontory for a 2-hours walk. When we entered we saw lots of animals! There was kangaroos and emus. We walked to beach and I was the first one to reach the beach! I saw an emu walking one the water. I called my father and my father came. We played and took pictures then walk back. I was very excited because after Wilson's Promontory we went to Mt Baw Baw!

Mt Baw Baw was in the mountains! There were snow everywhere! but we had to buy food because my mother was cooking for us. Then we reached there about 6.00. When I touched the snow, it had turned to ice. I asked my mother, "Why did the snow turn to ice?" My mother said, "That is last week's snow." We called somebody to pick us up to our hotel. The hotel was beautiful. There was a kitchen for my mother to cook, tv and a cupboard full of toys. There was a double deck bed! We ate pasta for dinner. After dinner, my father set a fire at the fire place and went to sleep.

14/06
The next day, I was very excited! We were going to ski! We ate cereals for breakfast, played toboggan and went to take a break ready to go and ski. We went to the place my mother rented toboggan and rented skis there.

The first time I skied I fell down a few times. The last time,I broke my record. We went to bring back the ski we rented. After that time, our friends had arrived. We went to eat dinner. After dinner we went to lay iPad, then we went to sleep.

15/06
The next morning, it was snowing! I went out to play in the snow. I made snowballs and threw them at my sister. My sister threw them back at me. We ate cereals then went to play again. This time, my friends went to ski. I played iPad whole morning, then I ate lunch. After lunch we went to lay toboggan. That was the last day at Mount Baw Baw. My mother took some pictures then jumped into the car and jet of.

We went to eat dinner. It took about 3 hours to reach the place to eat dinner ( back to Melbourne Victoria Street to eat Vietnamese noodles). Then we too about 2 hours to reach our cottage ( actually we also did some grocery shopping along the way). The cottage was very big! The living room had a kitchen and a tv, the bathroom had a jacuzzi! I wanted to tho to the jacuzzi immedietly. But my mother said no. After that we went to sleep.

16/06
The next day we ate cereals again. Then we went shopping at a place called Anaconda. After shopping we went to eat lunch. Then we went shopping again. We shopped until dinner time.....

Note: the rest is history cos we came back to Singapore and he did not think it necessary to write anymore. Anyway the last 3 days was a flurry of activities which comprised mainly of food and shopping. The 4 kids happily played their games and entertained themselves whilst the adults went about their bargain hunts at DFOs and warehouses.

*The spelling mistakes are not typo errors but genuine mistakes made by him. So are some of the weird sentence structures and punctuations. Most of the entries were done in the evening and since he was more or less ' coerced' into writing (our only condition for the trip), you can tell that he merely wanted to get it over and done with so that he can have more time to play, thus resulting in undeveloped and skimpy descriptions of the various activities. Hopefully he will cultivate more pride in his future writings after reading these entries.

June Holiday Staycation 2011

The June holidays are here! On 3rd June, we went to Orchard Hotel. There was a queen-sized bed and a single bed but the thing I liked most was the bath tub.The first thing I asked was, "Can I go take a bath?" I asked my mother. My mother said no and sent me to bed. But my father's friend, Uncle Gary and his son, Jayden came and disturbed our sleep. Then my father said we could go to the bath while my father and uncle Gary talked about business. We showered about 5 mins, suntanned under lights for about 10min and played for 20 min.

After our shower, we played with Jayden. Later when uncle Gary and Jayden left, we went to the Waterfront Hotel for dinner. After our dinner, we went back to our hotel to watch tv, changed our clothes and slept.

The second day, I woke up at 8 am and went to the window to read 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. My sister woke up and read her Princess boom. After reading, she played with her toys. My father woke up and watched tv. My mother woke up at 9 and went to shower. We went to Subway to eat breakfast. Later after breakfast, we went shopping. My father bought me and my sister a pair of tennis shoes. Then we went to eat lunch and then went to see my cousin Jay play tennis. I played tennis in the squash court to entertain myself. After that I went for my tennis lesson.

After my 2 hours of tennis lesson, we went back to the hotel and had a bath. After that we went to Food Republic to eat mee pok. On the way back, my foot became painful so we went back to the hotel. My father massaged my legs and then I went to sleep. I had a fun holiday. Adventure in Australia is coming soon!

Macritichie Tree Top Walk

Today we went for tree top walk with Qihui and her family. We went by car. My father dropped us down first because the carpark was full. At first when I started walking, I felt comfortable and excited. One hour later, we met Isobel and Joel at the ranger station eating gummies. They were with their parents. After we ate some fruits and a short rest, we headed for the "treetop bridge". The bridge was high and I was scared. I saw a lot of tall trees below us. Next we had to climb down a lot of steps and then we stopped at the ranger station again. Then on the way back we caught some fish then we headed for the carpark with my feet aching. I would never ever want to have aching feet again!

My 8th Birthday

Last Sunday was my birthday. My mother wanted to plan a barbecue for me and my Ascension kindergarten friends, Aloysius, Ezra, Elliot and Bryan. But I decided to play 3-4 hours of Supreme Commander instead because I usually got to play only half an hour during weekends.

On the morning of my birthday, I woke up early because I was excited. The first thing I did was to eat breakfast then I played Supreme Commander while my family went out for breakfast. I felt happy when i played the game because it is fun.

In the evening we went o Changi Airport for dinner. My mother and I chose to eat at Secret Recipe restaurant. My father's friend, uncle Gary came to eat with us. After that we went to pick up Uncle Charles and Uncle Avin who are from China. After that my mother went to City Square mall to buy a chocolate- yam cake for me. I enjoyed my birthday.

Show and Tell: My Favorite Toy

Good morning teachers and friend, today I want to share with you my favorite toy.
This is my favorite toy. It is called a Beyblade. It is made up of a weight disk which is used to determine the power and speed and a spin gear which is used to control the direction of the rotation. A launcher is then used to launch the Beyblade into the Battle Ring to attack other opponents. The one that spins the longest is the winner!

I usually play it with my cousins, Jay, Jon and Jim at my grandfather's house on Sundays when we go there for dinner. I enjoy playing it because I like to see the top spinning and to challenge other people to see who is the winner.

How I can be gracious

I wish I could be gracious like the Japanese. If I am gracious, I would do all the good things such as let others go out of the car first and when I go food court, I must quickly finish my food and clear the table to let others use the table. I must also let other people get out oflaity lift first before I enter.

When I am queuing up, I should let old people and others who are in need go first. If I am in the classroom, I must not make any noise when the teacher is talking because my classmates want to learn.

My Pets

I have two pet gerbils, Houdini and Chi Chi. They look like cute rats. My friend's mother gave it to me. My responsibility is to feed them. They eat nuts and sunflower seeds. I also give them water in their water-bottle every 2-3 days.

Houdini likes to bite things and scratch the corner trying to get out. Last time, when we first had it, it always escapes from it's cage. So we bought a new cage with a cover so that it dies not escape again.

My Family

I have four members in my family. They are my father, mother, sister and I. I live at 1 St Michael's with my two gerbils, Houdini and Chi Chi and a terrapin. My father is a businessman. He sells water to ships. His hobbies are fishing, playing golf and badminton.

My mother is a teacher. She is teaching English and History in a Secondary school. She enjoys reading and swimming. My sister is studying in Hong Wen Primary school. She is a Primary 1 student. She loves to draw and sleep.

I am learning a lot of sports such as swimming, tennis and aikido. Every Wednesdays we go to Anchorvale CC to play badminton and table tennis. On weekends, we go to my grandfather's house for dinner. My family also enjoys going East Coast Park for cycling.

My hobbies

I have two hobbies. One is swimming because I like water. I go for swimming on Wednesdays and Sunday.I know a lot of styles such as front-crawl, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke. I usually swim with my friend Justin. During training, I swim about 40-42 laps. Swimming can help increase my stamina.

My favorite game is Supreme Commander. I like it because I can build things like Hard Rock tanks. My mission is to defeat their commander. I play it only during weekends. I like both hobbies because they are fun!
